Personal Practice – hat is The Gift: Everyone has a gift to give.

I believe we are on this life journey to learn and acquire new knowledge and ways to support us and the next phase of our evolution. Barbara De Angelis states, “We’re here to learn. There is a curriculum. We each have certain courses. You can figure out your courses if you look at the experiences in your life.” 

“Everything in life is a vehicle for your transformation – use it.” ~Ram Dass

Insight, intention, integrity, and involvement are some of the critical pieces to Discovering Your Gifts. Please pay special attention to those pieces of yourself which are emerging and awakening. What are the messages coming through you?

There are many ways to Discover Your Gift, and the following Personal Practice will bring you along that journey.

Personal Practice: 

This practice will support the reconditioning of your mind to tune in to your Gifts. 

With this exercise and all that follow, I encourage you to have the bravery to ask the questions you have always wanted to ask yourself and others and then ask the ones you never knew you had until now.

1. Write down the names of the eight most essential people in your life and describe what you think is most extraordinary about them.

2. Now, ask the eight most important people in your life to tell you what your Gifts are, and write them down.

3. Take time to reflect on what these folks tell you your Gifts are. Notice whether there is a common theme; write down your thoughts, feelings, downloads, and ah-ha moments.

Now sit back, take a deep breath, and close your eyes; ASK YOURSELF without judgment: “What Gift inside of me wants to come out?” Allow all thoughts to be valid notice the ideas “downloading” and the feelings you have about those ideas let the most potent visions come to the top. Then open your eyes and write any thoughts, actions, and desires that come to mind.

5. For the next few days, be aware of this practice. Notice in your daily life where recurring themes continue to emerge and where there are opportunities for your Gifts to be activated. When you see them write them down and visualize them, focus on what makes you happy, joyous, and inspired about implementing that Gift.

Our society spends too much time focusing on negativity and training it into the minds of our children. It is time to shift our educational practices and perspectives. We must begin to educate our youth about what’s right and wonderful about themselves, their interests, and their gifts, and how to generate a healthy life from there. They are the future and they exist now.

With Dignity and Equity for All – Now is the Time to Change Our Educational Experiences for Future Generations

Teachers hold tremendous power in our society, and through them, we can truly empower the lives of all children. The current state of education must address the varying needs of our children, and if every teacher were to address every student with empowerment and compassion, all children would have the experience of being heard, which will give them hope and possibility. Our very growth as a society is based on our ability to relate to others, no matter the setting or device, we are about relationships, so let’s make sure we create positive ones in our schools and with “Our Children” the future of “Our Society.”

All teachers are influential one way or another. Our schools are the places that have immediate long-term access and effects on how students, the children, see themselves and their place in the community and the world. Teachers spend most of their time with our leaders of tomorrow, and it is the teachers who have a direct and lasting impact on their sense of self, belonging, and self-esteem, along with their hopefulness or hopelessness about the future.   

Great teachers have an innate sense of self and reflect on themselves and their teaching practices and their effect on the children continuously. These educators are compassionate, motivated, and educated in psychology and learning. In my opinion, what is missing in many of our schools is support for the teachers. I have encountered well-intentioned administrators well-versed in best practices, challenging academics, and supporting the overall creation of holistic education – body, mind, heart, and spirit. I have also encountered power-hungry administrators, angry and filled with resentment toward the system and those within it. This type of behavior from leaders is where the problem lies. 

Taking care of how we feel about ourselves and how we perceive that world and whether or not that world accepts us is the pulse of who we are and how teachers help children become themselves.

I have witnessed excellent teachers create unique classrooms filled with excited and energized learners. I have also seen caring teachers who lack support and resources and cannot reflect on themselves and their practices; they create uncomfortable, angry environments where children are afraid to ask for help and, even worse, afraid to get noticed.

Schools must be places where all feel and know that success is possible. Schools need to be places where every member of the community feels valued as a contributing member.

We can change how our schools operate on every level. Now is the time. A new paradigm is upon us, and we have the power to create positive and transformative educational environments with dignity and equity for all.

Many people today are fraught with negative feelings of themselves and others.  It is in the journey of connecting with your highest self that you are able to transform those thoughts and feelings into opportunities and possibilities for self and others.

Take time today to share your gratitude with those around you. Find ways to pay it forward, buy the next person in line a cup of coffee, smile at a stranger, offer assistance where you can.  All of these are acts of kindness and produce more goodness in the world than one can possibly imagine. The more kindness you offer the easier it is to stay connected to your positive presence – your higher self.

Create peace within by connecting with your thoughts, actions, and feelings which produce positive possibilities and feelings for yourself and those around you.  Transform your adversities into opportunities.

This Simple Process Will Help You Become More Intentional With Your Thoughts

Much of your life and its outcomes are based on what you choose to focus on in any given circumstance. Through my two decades of work with individuals, families, schools, and businesses I have come to learn is that many people are having a hard time focusing on the positives in themselves and their lives. By helping them to do this, we support….

I realize now after working in the field of education for so long that we are unintentionally focused on what is wrong with our children instead of what is right about them. Then those children grow up into us…not knowing what is right and wonderful about us and thus most of us live our lives not knowing what our purpose is or even how to access it as a possibility in our life.

It is hard to focus on the positive and what is possible when society has trained it out of us.  This process is created to support the reconditioning of negative predispositions and beliefs to positive and definite possibilities.

The knowledge which exists today shows us that our molecules are emotive. They change on a cellular level depending on our environment.  What has happened to most of us is that we have stayed in our Amygdala part of our brain which is fight or flight.  We will get you out of fight or flight…. As well as giving you techniques for greater clarity through simple, easy to do anywhere, breath practices which provide your body with more oxygen, your mind with more clarity and the ability to activate what you know to be true.

It is essential to understand your emotional wellness and a tidbit of neuroscience, as well as how positive thoughts lead to positive emotions and actions.  These coupled have a significant impact on your well-being and success, both with your personal and professional worlds. You remember Gandhi,  One of his famous quotes holds accurate in what we know today of neuroscience, 

Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny. ~ Gandhi – Indian political and spiritual leader

The key to do anything is doing it. Just like Nike says, “just do it.” Nike is right.  This is the key to accomplishment and success in all areas of your life. The key to writing is to write, etc.…  Many of us live our dreams in our minds and are isolated and alone wishing or hoping someone will find us.  The key to this answer is… you must discover you. You must open up to your authentic self and activate your energy into the world in which you desire happiness, which to me means success.

Let’s begin.

This simple process will help you become more intentional with your thoughts by focusing on what is wonderful and right about you.

Whenever you find yourself, telling yourself what’s wrong with you, your job is to immediately state, “cancel, cancel.” Then replace your negative self-talk with positive thoughts and feelings about yourself and or the situation.  And, if that doesn’t work, you immediately focus on gratitude. Janet Bray Attwood and Chris Attwood taught me to “focus on gratitude, focus on the people, places, and events you are grateful for.” This one act places your attention on the good thoughts and experiences in your life and immediately brings you positive feelings. It is these positive vibrations which you want to align with. Focus on what is right and wonderful about you. Place your attention on all the people, places, things and experiences you are grateful for in your life. 

Make a list and Remember to INCLUDE YOURSELF

Become Intentional With Your Thoughts

Your thoughts are mental energy, and they contribute to positive or negative feelings within. There is a lot of discussions about the “monkey mind.” and learning to control it. There are many valuable reasons for this, and it begins with understanding that what you focus on expands. If you desire to live a life you love, then being able to shift your perspective and point your thoughts in positive ways, is essential to this process. 20140618_121044 (2)

Become intentional with your thoughts.  Pause for a moment and practice with me.  Notice how you can think of an idea. Right now, just think any thought. Ok, good, now look at the thought you were just thinking and change it to a more positive thought.  Great, notice how you have the ability to be intentional with your thinking.

It takes 66 days to change a habit. In order to create this type of sustainability, you have to make conscious and aware choices.  The best way to begin doing this is to ask yourself the question, “why am I doing this?” “What is my purpose?”  Your mind wants to answer the questions proposed. Know that the quality of the questions you ask determines the quality of the life you live.
